Checking the System is Powered On
The system can be quite quiet, so it's not always obvious whether it's running. Here's how to check:
Listen at a ceiling vent
Put your ear up close to one of the vents in your ceiling. You should be able to feel or hear a gentle airflow. The best time to check is in the afternoon, when the system is more likely to be running at a higher speed.
A couple of tips:
- Make sure any extractor fans or rangehoods are switched off first, as these can make it harder to tell.
- In summer, it's normal for the system to run less (or not at all during the hottest part of the day) — this is by design to avoid pushing hot air into your home.
- If you can get into the roof space, turning the system off and on at the plug switch should cause the fans to turn on, regardless of temperatures. If they don't — get in touch.
If you can't detect any airflow and it's not a hot summer's day, the system may not be on. Check that it's plugged in and switched on at the power outlet — this is usually in the roof space, close to the manhole in your ceiling.
